Credit Recovery Program & Summer School

CUHSD Credit Recovery Program

If your student had a D or F in one or more of their classes, they may benefit from CUHSD’s Credit Recovery Program. CUHSD hosts a District Wide Credit Recovery Program providing students with the opportunity to recover 5 credits per session they attend. CUHSD teachers teach courses for students over breaks to provide these opportunities for students.

Transportation is available for students attending summer school. Please refer to the bus routes for Del Mar and Westmont at the bottom of the page.

Summer School 2023

As an additional resource for CUHSD’s Credit Recovery Program, students may participate in one of two Summer School Sessions. Over summer school, students will have the opportunity to improve a D grade in order to meet A-G college eligibility. Students can also recover credits in a course where they earned an F grade. Students will earn 5 credits for each class taken in summer school where they are making up an F grade. Summer School will be held at Del Mar & Westmont High School. Extended School Year (ESY) will also be held at Del Mar High School. Please speak with your student's counselor to sign up for a class.

Daily Schedule

Session A

Period 1: meets from 8:30 am to 11:30 am
Brunch: 10:00 am to 10:15 am
Period 2 meets from 11:45 am to 3:00 pm
Lunch:12:45 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Session B
Period 1: meets from 8:30 am to 11:30 am
Brunch: 10:00 am to 10:15 am

Attendance - IMPORTANT

Attendance is a mandatory component of success. Students not present on the 1^st day of Summer session will be considered a no-show and automatically dropped. Students will only be allowed 1 absence for the duration of each summer session. Students will automatically be dropped on their second absence.

Summer school curriculum is covered in a very short time. Therefore, attendance is MANDATORY. Consequently, one day absent from summer school is the equivalent to five (5) days of absence during the regular school year.

Students can only be absent for one (1) day of summer school. Students will be automatically dropped on their second absence. In addition, if a student is more than thirty (30) minutes late, it is considered an absence. If a student reaches five (5) tardies, they could be dropped from summer school.

Credit

Students may earn a maximum of 10 credits during summer school, per session.

School Regulations

The same standards of student conduct expected during the regular school year are expected during summer school. The rules and expectations will be reviewed during the first week.

Students are financially responsible for textbooks and other school property in their care.

Students driving to school must park their cars in the Student Parking Lot. All rules for driving a car during the regular school year must also be observed during summer school.

There will be no loitering in the school parking lot at any time.

THE CAMPUS IS CLOSED. Students with two class periods may NOT LEAVE DURING BREAK.

Proper dress is expected on campus at all times. There will be NO gang wear, bandanas, chains, explicit advertising on T-shirts or hats allowed. Clothing should be modest and not distracting to others. Shoes must be worn at all times.
