University of California (UC)

SUBJECT REQUIREMENTS
(a) HISTORY/SOCIAL SCIENCE:  
  U.S. History & American Government 1 yr.
  World History, Culture, & Geography 1 yr.
(b) ENGLISH: 4 yrs.
  College Prep English  
(c) MATH: 3 yrs.
  Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, or Intermediate Algebra 2 OR Integrated Math 1, 2, 3 (4 years recommended)  
(d) LAB SCIENCE: 2 yrs.
  One year from Biological, one Year from Physical Sciences required (3 years recommended)  
(e) LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH: 2 yrs.
  3 years recommended same language  
(f) VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS 1 yr.
  Dance, drama/theater, music, or visual arts  
(g) ELECTIVES: 1 yr.
  In addition to those courses required in "a-f", 1 year, (2 semesters), of college prepatory electives are required, chosen from Visual/Performing Arts, History, Social Science, English, Advanced Mathmatics, Lab Science, or Language other than English  
    15 units

Exam Requirements
1 YR=1 UNIT: 15 Units required (7 in Junior year and Senior year); "B" or better grades are very important for admission.

G.P.A. Requirements
3.0"a-g" GPA (or higher)=eligible for admission regardless of test scores; 2.99"a-g" GPA (or lower)=ineligible. (Only 2 semesters of the "g" courses in grades 10-12 will be used in the "a-g" GPA

California State University (CSU)

SUBJECT REQUIREMENTS
(a) HISTORY/SOCIAL SCIENCE:  
  U.S. History & American 1 yr.
  U.S. History & Social Science 1 yr.
(b) ENGLISH: 4 yrs.
  College Preperatory Composition & Literature  
(c) MATH: 3 yrs.
  Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, or Intermediate Algebra 2 OR Integrated Math 1, 2, 3
(4 years recommended)
 
(d) LAB SCIENCE: 2 yrs.
  One year from Biological, one Year from Physical Sciences required  
(e) LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH: 2 yrs.
  3 years recommended same language  
(f) VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS 1 yr.
  Dance, drama/theater, music, or visual arts  
(g) ELECTIVES: 1 yr.
  Selected from college preparatory courses in above subjects or agriculture

Exam Requirements
All required courses must be completed with grades of "C" or higher "B" strongly recommended.

G.P.A. Requirements
3.0 GPA (or higher)=eligible for admission regardless of test scores; GPA below 2.0=ineligible. GPA includes all college preparatory classes (except PE) taken in grades 10-12

Both the UC and CSU systems assign extra points for up to four one-year courses of certified honors-level and AP courses taken in the last three years of high school: A=5 points; B=4; C=3; D grades are not included in these calculations and receive one point only. No more than two units of certified honors-level courses taken in grade 10 may be assigned extra points. The courses must be in the "a-g" subjects of history, English, advanced mathematics, laboratory science, language other than English, and visual and performing arts. They must be certified at your high school as honors, Advanced Placement.
