Blackford High School was constructed in 1959 and was the fourth school built in response to the post WWII baby boom of the . It is a typical finger plan school with the full array of site assets.

Blackford was closed in 1990 as a comprehensive school and portions have been leased out to various tenants since that time. Additionally, the

Blackford Continuation Program was housed on the Blackford Campus until 2002 when the new Boynton High School opened.

Blackford High School is currently leased out to a master tenant who sub-leases various portions of the site. This provides a valuable source of revenue for the District to supplement the LTFIP and to support other District facilities needs.

In the future, if the District student population continues to grow, Blackford will allow the District to expand capacity without the need to purchase new facilities.

At this time, the CUHSD population is growing slowly, but it has not reached the point at which reopening Blackford would make sense.
