Built in 1961,
Westmont is one of the finger plan schools built in response
to the post WWII baby boom. It has the full array of
amenities offered by such a plan, including the quad
and circulation amenities. Westmont offers the best example
of a finger plan in that the arrangement of wings allows
for direct connection to the main quad by most courtyards.
This gives the school an easily
understood organizational |

structure
offering the best opportunities for communication
and collaboration.
Westmont
has undergone a range of improvements over the last
few years that give it a head start over some of
the other campuses. The pool and playfield renovations
have updated a large percentage of the site area.
Westmont also includes the Agricultural Program housed
on an adjacent site.

This
program is one of very few remaining in urban areas
and is a source of pride
for the site and the District. The Ag “Farm” includes
classrooms and Ag Mechanics components as well as
livestock pens and handling areas, support buildings
and a greenhouse. It serves a range of useful purposes
and has a high potential for interdisciplinary collaboration.
