Built in 1961, Westmont is one of the finger plan schools built in response to the post WWII baby boom. It has the full array of amenities offered by such a plan, including the quad and circulation amenities. Westmont offers the best example of a finger plan in that the arrangement of wings allows for direct connection to the main quad by most courtyards. This gives the school an easily understood organizational

structure offering the best opportunities for communication and collaboration.

Westmont has undergone a range of improvements over the last few years that give it a head start over some of the other campuses. The pool and playfield renovations have updated a large percentage of the site area.

Westmont also includes the Agricultural Program housed on an adjacent site.

This program is one of very few remaining in urban areas and is a source of pride for the site and the District. The Ag “Farm” includes classrooms and Ag Mechanics components as well as livestock pens and handling areas, support buildings and a greenhouse. It serves a range of useful purposes and has a high potential for interdisciplinary collaboration.
