Dear Campbell Union High School District Community,
We are proud to share with you our final newsletter
associated with Measure C, the $95 Million Bond Measure which you, our
community, passed in November 1999 to begin the renovation of our aging
sites: Blackford, Branham, Del Mar, Leigh, Westmont and Prospect.
Since the passage of Measure C in 1999, our team has
efficiently managed the Bond funds in order to make each dollar go as far
as possible for the most critical work needed on our facilities. Furthermore,
we are proud to be able to inform you that in 2005 the Campbell Union High
School District refinanced our Measure C General Bond Fund obligations which
resulted in finance savings of $770,064. Simply stated, your tax rate for the
Measure C Bonds has been reduced. We are pleased to have passed all of these
savings back to our community
Much has changed at all of our schools for the betterment
of our students with the ambitious undertaking of Measure C. We have added a
brand new continuation high school. 200 classrooms have been completely
renovated and 40 new ones have been added. There are new science facilities,
new electrical, heating and ventilating systems, new door locks, alarm systems
and corridor lighting. Look around the district and you’ll see completely
redone art facilities in some places, music facilities in others. Swimming
pools, playfields, and parking lots also received attention, and renovation of
sports bowls throughout the district is scheduled for completion by early fall.
We are excited by the installation of a district astrophotography
observatory at Prospect, where technology and the internet enable students throughout
the district to study the universe with a computer-guided research grade telescope.
Few districts in the country can boast of such a facility. Construction has also begun
on the replacement of our district agricultural facility at Westmont. Also rare in high
schools, this facility and the observatory alone set this district apart from most
others in our commitment to expanding educational opportunities for all students. I
invite you to spend a few moments looking inside this report to discover exactly what
has been accomplished at each school site.
Our construction program and its financing are reviewed by the Bond
Oversight Committee on a quarterly basis. The committee has consistently reported to the
Board of Trustees that the district is providing what was promised to the voters. Once
again, we are very grateful to our community for its support.
