configuration of the wireless network. Pre-requisite:
Wireless Network Card MUST support WPA authentication & TKIP
encryption. Please refer to you computer manual or wireless card manual
for information.
Step 1 - Installing District CA Root Certificate.
Before you configure your laptop for use on the District Wireless LAN,
you will need to install the CA Root Certificate. Without
this CA Root Certificate, you will not securely authenticate to the
District Wireless LAN.

Download the CA Root Certificate file to your local PC, using the link
above.
Double-click the CA Root Certificate file.
Click Install Certificate....

On the 'Welcome to the Certificate Import Wizard' screen, click Next.
At the 'Certificate Store' screen, select 'Place all certificates in
the following store’ and click ‘Browse’.

Select 'Certificate Store', then ‘Trusted Root Certification
Authorities’ by clicking on it and then click ‘OK’.

You will be returned to the ‘Certificate Store’ window. Click ‘Next’.
A message is displayed confirming the import was successful.

Click 'Finish' to close the Certificate Import Wizard. You will be
prompted with a Security Warning.
Click ‘Yes’ to confirm install of the certificate.

A message is displayed confirming the import was
successful.
Click 'OK' to close message and 'OK' to close the
Certificate Information window.
The 'cuhsd-prime CA Root Certificate' is now
installed onto your computer.
Step 2 - Configuring the Windows Vista
Client.
You are now ready to configure the Windows Vista
built-in client to connect to the Wireless Network.
Right-click the Wireless Network Icon in the System
Tray, and select ‘Network and Sharing Centre'.

On the right side of the window that opens are a selection of links
under the heading ‘Tasks’. Click ‘Manage Wireless Networks’.

The ‘Manage wireless networks’ window will open. Click ‘Add’.

In the window that opens select ‘Manually create a network profile’ to
continue. In the window that follows enter the details as you see them in
the screenshot below.
- Enter ‘staff for teachers and students for
students’ into the 'Network name' box.
- Select WPA for Security type.
- Select TKIP for Encryption type.
- Tick the ‘Start this connection automatically’ box
Click Next to continue.

A new window will open informing you that you have ‘Successfully ‘staff
or student’.
Select ‘Change Connection Settings’ then select the Security Tab.
Remove the tick mark from ‘Cache user information for subsequent
connections to this network’

Select the ‘Settings Button’.
With the ‘Validate Server Certificate’ ticked, select ‘cuhsd-prime’ in
the ‘Trusted Root Certification Authorities’ section.

With the Authentication Method as ‘EAP – MSCHAP v2’ select the
Configure button, then remove the tick from ‘Automatically use my windows
logon name and password (and domain if any)’.

Then OK all boxes or close any remaining ones.
Your laptop should now try and connect to “staff or student”
You will be warned that ‘Additional log on information is required to
connect to this network’.

Click ’Enter/Select additional log on information’. Firstly you will be
prompted for your username and password.

Enter your network log in details to the box provided, leaving the
‘Login domain’ field blank. Click ‘OK’.
