Childcare for Essential Workers

Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) in partnership with county and city leaders, community organizations and agencies throughout Santa Clara County recently announced a new online portal to provide essential workers, as defined by the Santa Clara County Department of Public Health, access to childcare during the shelter-in-place order.

The portal is designed to provide childcare for essential workers and organizations that provide childcare services, with useful content that can help them access the most up to date information about available resources. In addition to a growing list of childcare providers and resources, as well as eligibility requirements and guidance for how to apply, the new portal now features:

  • Spanish language translations
  • A map of childcare locations
  • Alternative Payment Voucher information for essential workers
  • Information on subsidized funding for providers and essential workers
  • Alternative Payment provider resources (Choices for Children)
  • An increased number of providers available to all essential workers
  • 4 SCCOE Head Start sites
  • Campbell Unified School District Employee Childcare

All childcare centers for essential workers in Santa Clara County must follow physical distancing, sanitation, and hygiene practices specified by the Department of Public Health, the State of California and the Federal Centers for Disease Control.
