Measure O Update

Parcel tax funds allow Campbell Union High School District (CUHSD) to restore and maintain current programs, reduce class sizes, enhance campus safety, and recruit and retain qualified teachers. Voters in our district renewed a special Parcel Tax assessment of $85 in 2022 for ten years known as Measure O. We appreciate the support of our community to continue providing high quality and challenging career-training and technical education programs, keep our best teachers, and so much more through the approval of Measure O. The tax is assessed against each parcel of taxable land within CUHSD boundaries. A parcel is defined as any unit of land in the district that now receives a separate tax bill from the Santa Clara County Assessor's Office.
 
Property Owners who are 65 years or older may apply for an exemption from Campbell Union High School District's (CUHSD) current parcel tax. Measure O contains the same exemption, and property owners exempt from the current levy would automatically be exempt from the new parcel tax.
 
Our community's dedication to our students include parcel taxes approved as Measure M in 2004, which expired in June 2008, renewed as Measure R in 2008, which expired in June 30, 2015, and through Measure E approved in 2013 and expired in the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
 
 

Parcel Tax Exemptions

Residents that live within the CUHSD boundaries can be exempted from paying the $85 CUHSD parcel tax if they fulfill one of the following criteria:
 
  • Senior citizen (65 years or older), you are the principal owner of the parcel, and it is your principal residence.
 
  • You are receiving Supplemental Security Income for a disability, the parcel's principal owner and it is your principal residence.
 

Please click here to determine if your parcel is within the CUHSD boundaries. This will take you to the school locator page. Enter your street address, choose your city, and click Find My School. You will not qualify for the parcel tax exemption if it says no High Schools found. If it does list one of our schools (Branham, Boynton, Del Mar, Leigh, Westmont, Prospect, CACE), then continue with the application process.

 
As of 2017, this process only needs to be done once. After the initial exemption forms are approved, your CUHSD $85 parcel tax will be eliminated yearly until the tax sunsets in 2033.

Information you will need when you fill out the forms Parcel Tax Exemption Form (Disability):

  1. ASSESSOR'S PARCEL NUMBER or APN# (This can be located on your property tax bill)
  2. Your name as it appears on the Property Tax bill
  3. Full Address (Street number, street name, city, state, and area code)
  4. Telephone number
  5. Birth Date
  6. Email address (if available)
  7. Benefits Verification Letter issued by the Social Security Administration receiving. Supplemental Income for disability. This letter is obtained online at www.ssa.gov by calling the Social Security Administration Office at 1-800-772-1213 or visiting a local Social Security Administration Office.
  8. One proof of residence (copy of driver's license or utility bill)
  9. One copy of proof of ownership (copy of property tax bill or tax bill w/homeowner's exemption). Be sure to print out both the front and back of the property tax bill or tax bill w/homeowner's exemption. Incomplete forms will be returned and will need to be resubmitted.

  7. One proof of birth (copy of driver's license, birth certificate, passport, or Medicare card)
  8. One proof of residence (any copy of utility bill- PG&E/Phone/Water/Cable/Trash Bill)
  9. One proof of ownership (copy of property tax bill or tax bill w/homeowner's exemption). Be sure to print out the front and back of the property tax bill or tax bill with the homeowner's exemption. Incomplete forms will be returned and will need to be resubmitted.

Oversight Committee

As a requirement of Measure M (2004), Measure R (2008), Measure E (2013), and Measure O (2023) an independent citizens' fiscal oversight committee will meet annually to determine that expenditures meet the intent of the original ballot measure language as approved by the voters and provide a report to the school board. 
 
Anyone wishing to address the Parcel Tax Committee matters may do so at this time. If you would like to address the Committee, members of the public may submit a request to make a public comment by submitting a blue public comments card found near the Board Room entrance. Public Comment for both Agendized and Non-Agendized items.
