The Board of Trustees recognized music students across the District for their significant achievements in the performing arts.
In March of 2023, Del Mar’s Saxophone Ensemble, consisting of students Supal Danasooriyage, Donald Ethan Lorenz, Angela McKeever, and Lukas Nguyen, won 1st place at the Country Woman's Club of Campbell’s 59th Annual Solo & Ensemble Competition. Additionally, Gwen Schneider, Flute player, won 1st place for Solo Woodwind Instruments.
CUHSD students were also selected to join the 2023 California All-State Music Education Conference All-State Ensembles and All-State Honor Choirs. Students chosen had to go through a rigorous audition process at the regional and state before being selected to join the All-State team. Sid Banerjee, Maitreyi Bharath, Leila Calvert, Maya Calvert, Ella Calvert, Brian Garrison, Andrew Kim, Valerie Liou, Noah Roh, Evelyn Wang, and Teresa Youngman were selected to join All-State Ensembles at the 2023 California All-State Music Education Conference.
Adding to the excitement, two students, Maitreyi Bharath and Maya Calvert, were selected to join only 300 other students across the nation to join the National Honors Choir at the 2023 American Choral Directors Association Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio.
