Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year

Dear CUHSD Community,

I want to thank all of you in the CUHSD community for your continuous support and for entrusting your child’s education to us. Our many outstanding staff members look forward to welcoming students back to campus and providing them with the high-quality learning environment they deserve.

As we enter the 2021-2022 school year I want to acknowledge that the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant has deflated some of the hopes we had for a quick “return to normal.” While the battle against COVID may be protracted, I for one am grateful that public health authorities continue to tell us that in-person schooling can be done safely.

Thanks to your cooperation we recorded no cases of in-school COVID transmission in spring or in summer school. Our return to school protocols will continue to consistently adhere to public health guidelines and regulations provided by the county and state.

All students and staff, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to use masks indoors and on district transportation. If a student enters an office or classroom without a mask and does not put one on after a singular request from a staff member, school administration may send the student home, determine discipline consequences, and potentially return the student to remote instruction.

All staff members will be fully vaccinated or will submit to weekly COVID testing. Every classroom will continue to be served by HVAC systems with MERV 13 filters or portable HEPA filters. We will continue to work with parents to monitor student health daily and to report any COVID-19 symptoms to school staff. Our goal is to maintain a safe, high-quality, in-person learning environment and together we are stronger.

Looking out for the health and wellbeing of our students and staff means prioritizing mental health just as we prioritize the physical. This school year our Board of Trustees has expanded access to school mental health professionals so that every student feels supported in their transition to an in-person learning environment.

Please do not hesitate to contact your school site if you have any questions about our health and safety protocols, or to contact my office if we aren’t fully implementing the best, most current practices.

Sincerely,

Robert Bravo, Ed.D.

----------

Atentamente,

Robert Bravo, Ed.D.
