2024 National Blue Ribbon Awardee Leigh High School

Leigh High School, home of the Longhorns, is located near the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains and on the westside of Santa Clara Valley. Established in 1962, Leigh is one of five comprehensive high schools within Campbell Union High School District. Leigh’s approximately 1850 students reflect Silicon Valley’s cultural diversity. Leigh prides itself as a legacy school, with many students having Leigh alumni as parents.Thirteen current teachers are also Leigh alumni.

Leigh’s dedicated staff of 81 teachers and 48 support staff provide a comprehensive curriculum that includes instructional programs designed for college-bound students served in special education, Emergent Multilingual, and Career Technical Education programs. In addition to rigorous academics, Leigh boasts award-winning music, athletic, visual and performing arts programs, and has over 100 clubs to serve students' interests.

Leigh prioritizes positive classroom environments with high quality instruction for all students. This includes engaging in meaningful activities, using appropriate tools, thinking critically, problem solving, and applying analytical skills. The implementation of Restorative Practices across campus have resulted in students reporting feeling more connected to school and fewer suspensions. Academically, Leigh continues to focus on high-quality instruction for all students, while effectively analyzing assessment data to plan for targeted intervention. Leigh currently has a Multi-Tier System of Supports and Restorative Practices Committees. The committees are composed of over a dozen teachers that lead multiple professional development sessions on building classroom community and instructional practices each year.

In 2024, Leigh was recognized as a California Distinguished School. Leigh’s commitment to student well-being and academic achievement is noticeable through every interaction between staff and students.
