Campbell Union High School District Joins Statewide CSU Direct Admission Program

SAN JOSE, CA — October 16, 2026 — Campbell Union High School District (CUHSD) is proud to announce its official participation in the California State University (CSU) Direct Admission Program. This statewide initiative is designed to simplify the college application process and provide graduating seniors with direct pathways to higher education.

Through this program, every CUHSD senior will receive official notification from the CSU system this fall regarding their college admission status—with many receiving direct admission offers before even applying.

"We are thrilled to partner with the California State University system to make higher education more accessible and transparent for our students," said Bari Sholomon, Senior Coordinator of College and Career Readiness at CUHSD. "By notifying qualified students of their admission status upfront, we can build early confidence and help every senior realize that a university degree is well within their reach."

Streamlined Admission Pathways

Seniors are evaluated based on their progress toward completing the required A–G college preparatory coursework. Notifications arriving by mail through mid-October will place students into one of three categories:

  • On Track: Students receive a direct admission letter offering acceptance to 17 participating CSU campuses.
  • Close to Eligible: Students are encouraged to connect with their School Counselor to  review options for completing  their  remaining coursework.
  • Not Yet Eligible: Students receive guidance on Transfer Success Pathways, which could offer  guaranteed future admission to a CSU campus after starting at a community college.

Important Next Steps for Families

Receiving a direct admission letter is a major milestone, but students must complete a few key steps to claim their spot:

  1. Submit Application: Students must complete and submit the Cal State Apply application by the priority deadline of November 30.
  2. Use CaliforniaColleges.edu: Launching the application through their CaliforniaColleges.edu account will automatically import verified courses and grades, saving time and preventing errors.
  3. Authorize Transcripts: Parents should log into the CUHSD Parent Portal to ensure transcript release authorization is updated to “Yes”.

Note: CSU Fullerton, Long Beach, San Diego, San José, and San Luis Obispo are not part of the direct admission program, and high-demand majors may require additional criteria.

Families with questions are encouraged to reach out to their School Counselor  or campus College & Career Specialist.
