Branham Community Spreads Goodness & Love with Winter Wishes

Branham High School’s December 12 Winter Wish event provided opportunities for the school community to help those of its members who are struggling with medical bills and other conditions.
“We have one student who wished for assistance for a relative who is fighting cancer, and we've raised money to help pay for the medical treatments,” said Shari Scott-Sawayer, Branham High School’s activities director. “We also have a special needs student who requires special therapy whom we'll be supporting through financial donations.”
The Winter Wish event at Branham High began six years ago and has been taken up by the district’s four remaining comprehensive campuses. In these events students and teachers write down what they want most for themselves or others, and the school community works to help make those wishes come true.
Branham’s Winter Wish program is the latest in a series of annual events by the district to celebrate the spirit of giving from November 18 to February 3.
CUHSD’s Season of Giving culminates on January 14, 2017, when students from the district’s five comprehensive high schools will gather together to prepare meals for the Bay Area chapter of Kids Against Hunger, which works to feed hungry children in the United States and the rest of the world.
