Canvas Parent Observer Accounts

Follow these steps to activate your account and monitor assignments, grades, and course updates for your student.

Your account already exists. If you are a CUHSD parent/guardian, the email on file in Aeries was used to create your Canvas Parent account.
Use the Parent login. Parents/guardians sign in at cuhsd.org/parentcanvas (different from the student login).
If your email has changed or isn’t recognized, update it in Aeries, then try again.

Go to cuhsd.org/parentcanvas.
Select Forgot Password.
Enter the email address on file in Aeries. Check your inbox for the password email and follow the link to set your password.
Return to cuhsd.org/parentcanvas and sign in with your email and new password.

After you have set your password (above):

Install the Canvas Parent app for iPhone or Android.
Open the app and Search for School: enter Campbell Union High School District (Parent/Guardians).
Sign in with the same email and password you set on the web.

Note: Pairing codes are not required for CUHSD parent accounts.

Choose what emails you receive and how often.

In Canvas (web), go to Account → Notifications.
For each item, pick a frequency: Right away, Daily summary, Weekly summary, or Off.
Optional: On a course home page, click the bell icon (Course Notifications) to override settings for a single course.

Recommended starters

I’m at canvas.com and can’t log in.

Parents must use the CUHSD Parent URL: cuhsd.org/parentcanvas. The generic canvas.com login will not work for CUHSD observer accounts.

Bookmark cuhsd.org/parentcanvas for future logins.
In the mobile app, tap Find School and select Campbell Union High School District (Parent/Guardians), then sign in.
If you landed on the wrong page, sign out and retry using the CUHSD link above.

I didn’t get the password reset email.

After you choose Forgot Password, Canvas sends an email to the address on file in Aeries. If you don’t see it:

Check Spam, Junk, and Trash folders.
Search your email for “canvas” or “instructure”.
Wait 15–30 minutes and try again.
Confirm you entered the same email listed in Aeries. If needed, update your email in Aeries and retry.

The system doesn’t recognize my email.

Make sure we have your current email in Aeries. Use Data Confirmation to update it. Wait 15–30 minutes and try Forgot Password again.

I have more than one student. How do I see them all?

In Canvas, go to Account → Observing to view all linked students. If a student is missing, verify your email in Aeries for that student’s record.

Where do students log in?

Students must use the student login (not the parent portal). Your student can find their Canvas link in their school bookmarks or portal.

Can I change the language?

Yes. In Canvas, go to Account → Settings and choose your preferred language.

Questions about an assignment, grade, or class policy: Contact the teacher first (Canvas Inbox or school directory). For broader academic concerns, contact your student’s counselor.
Technical issues (login, password, page errors): Use the Help (?) menu in Canvas to reach Canvas Support, or contact your school office / CUHSD Technology Department.
