Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are thrilled to welcome back our students, families, and dedicated staff for what promises to be an extraordinary year. There is nothing quite like the energy, possibilities, and fresh start of a new school year.
As we step into this new year, we will build on the momentum of the past year:
- More than 1,100 Class of 2026 graduates earned the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma by demonstrating academic excellence across ELA, math, science, U.S. history, and elective subjects.
- Earning recognition for multilingual proficiency, 622 recent graduates (about 30% of the Class of 2026) received the California State Seal of Biliteracy based on rigorous coursework and assessment standards in English and a secondary language.
- Our District expanded dual enrollment and Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathway opportunities, giving more students access to college credit and hands-on, real-world experience. Last year, 520 students completed at least one CTE pathway, preparing them for success in both college and career.
- Demonstrating strong performance countywide, CUHSD maintained a "green" rating across every category on the California School Dashboard

Personal Electronic Devices & Campus Wi-Fi Access
As many of you know, students will no longer be permitted to use personal, privately owned laptops or tablets during instructional time, and district Wi-Fi access will be limited exclusively to district-owned devices. This shift aligns our network practices with our district cell phone policy (BP 5131.8), addressing the reality that personal laptops and tablets are often used for the same prohibited social and messaging activities as mobile phones.
District-issued devices will continue to be provided to all students. Principals have shared additional site-specific details related to cell phones and personal electronic devices. We encourage you to review the full policy, BP 5131.8, as we work together for a successful school year ahead.
E-Bike & Personal Mobility Policy (BP 5142.08)
The District has adopted Board Policy 5142.08 to manage personal mobility devices on campus and ensure safe routes to school. Under the new guidelines, students may bring traditional bicycles and unmodified Class 1 e-bikes. However, Class 2 and 3 e-bikes, e-motos, electric scooters, electric skateboards, and any devices with a throttle or modified speed capabilities are strictly prohibited. Enforcement will follow progressive consequences beginning with a warning for the first violation.
Stay Connected & Be Part of Our School Community
Our primary tool for family communication is ParentSquare, where you’ll receive announcements, school updates, and emergency notifications. You are encouraged to download the ParentSquare app. If your student is involved in sports or extra-curricular activities, this is a primary place for information and communication. For information or help with ParentSquare, visit cuhsd.org/parentsquare. We also encourage families to stay connected through:
- Site-Based Parent Committees (i.e. PTSA, School Site Council, Padres Unidos, etc.)
- CUHSD’s partnership with Fresno State's Parent University, providing families with workshops and courses focused on personal growth and development. Courses are FREE for all CUHSD families. Visit cuhsd.org/ParentResources for more information.
